Progress for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will be reported during trimesters in accordance with our standards-based report cards. As a reminder, no hard or paper copies of report cards or progress reports will be sent home. Instead, we will post both in OnCourse Connect and will even email them, using the School Messenger Secure Document Sending System.
Parents:  Please remember to sign-in to OnCourse Connect, our new Student Information System, which will alert parents automatically if the student experiences a decrease in grades or incurs a behavioral violation.   If you do not remember your log in or password, please email [email protected]

The Samsel Upper Elementary School is home to all the 4th and 5th graders in Sayreville.  The classes are grouped in pairs, called "Teams" and consist of two subjects: Math/Science and ELA (English Language Arts)/Social Studies.  During three trimesters students rotate through the following special classes: Art, Music and Technology.  They attend one of those subjects every other day and on the opposite day they have Physical Education.  Spanish is a push in class throughout the year.

Samsel Mission Statement

At Samsel Upper Elementary School, our mission is to create a safe community of academic excellence by preparing and motivating students to learn through challenging and differentiated instruction, which utilizes critical thinking skills and real world learning. Through parent involvement and a dedicated staff, our students will learn a set of social and emotional competencies, as well as academic competencies, which will allow them to be successful in and out of school.

We encourage students to ride the bus. Limiting when you pick up your child for appointments that cannot be scheduled at other times helps with routines, as well as the instructional day. In an effort to streamline dismissal, we will now only use this form for changes in a student’s dismissal. Additional forms are available in the main office and on the SUES website. This note must be sent in on the day your child’s dismissal is changing. Each child will need a separate form.

Parents should email the school by 12:00 for changes to dismissal.
